SEISMIC STATION POBL (MONASTERY OF POBLET)

Welcome to the ISEV (Informació Sísmica En Viu)system server of the seismic station Monestir de Poblet (POBL). This web page is part of a cooperation agreement between the Departament d’Astronomia i Meteorologia (DAM) of the Universitat de Barcelona (UB) and the Laboratori d'Estudis Geofísics Eduard Fontserè (LEGEF) of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans, and with the cooperation of the comunitat Cistercenca del Monestir de Santa Maria de Poblet.

This web page allow to visualize in near-real time the waveforms recorded by the seismic station POBL. The plots are presented in a similar way than these presented by the helicoidal drums in seismic observatories. Plots are updated every 20 minutes approximately. The representation displays the short period (optimal for local events) and long period (optimal for teleseisms) graph of the broadband station POBL. Data for previous days are also available.

As a part of the research done at the LEGEF and the DAM, both data and the recording systems are quality controlled QC by means of an automatic data analysis procedure running over every channel

Location:

POBL (Monestir de Poblet
          Latitude: 41.3792 N
          Longitude: 1.0834 E
          Elevation: 508 m

Instrumentation:

          Sensor Type: Geotech KS-2000M
          Data Acquisition System 1: ADC7710
Data Acquisition System 2: ORION NMX
          Data format: miniSEED, full SEED
Record mode: Continuous three component, channels BH
In operation since February 20, 1994 (SP); February 8, 2005 (BB)

Site description:

The sensor is located in the underground of an old water mill. High temperature stability; seasonal variation = ±5°C (without isolation).

Data Management:

The acquisition systems are located in the sensor site. Ground motion measurements are recorded in continuous mode using SeisComP and stored at the local server. Data is extracted and it is quality-controlled periodically by means of the main seismic server of the Departament d'Astronomia i Meteorologia (DAM) of the Universitat de Barcelona (UB).
